Masti’s Lockdown Activities

We’re a family-run business at Masti, and know first-hand just how difficult juggling life is at the moment with children. We wanted to share a few activities that have kept the whole family busy, and the kids out of mischief!

  • Go for a socially distanced walk, in a treasure hunt for all the rainbows!

Lots of local Edinburgh-ers have put rainbows in our windows to support the NHS. It makes a walk so much more entertaining for our children when they have something to look for, and the rainbows is a great one.

  • Baking

There has been endless banana bread on social media, but what’s wrong with some at-home baking? Our favourite is any kind of dough that requires kneading, as it becomes almost like playdough. Plus, you get a delicious treat at the end!

As an extra bonus, we’ve had so many requests to release an at-home version of our naan bread. We’re perfecting our recipe to suit an at-home oven – stay tuned.

  • Board games

Just saying, we have never played more Cluedo, Monopoly, and Twister! Endless fun.

  • Picnics

This is one for both the grown-ups and the kids lucky enough to have a private garden. Picnics are great fun – but they’re made even better when you can make one while supporting one of our locals. Edinburgh has an incredible spirit, and a huge array of businesses offering activities, food, and so much more right to your door.

Our favourites include The Tartan Blanket Co – one of our Edinburgh favourites offering picnic blankets for garden fun. Team this with treats from Mimi’s Bakehouse (who offer deliveries right to your door), and tea from our neighbours at Rosevear Tea to make the perfect afternoon in the sun.

  • Of course – share food with your family.

We’re a foodie family, and nothing makes us happier than sharing food with our family. We cook our family staples together (many of which can be found on our Masti Menu!) and eat together to give us a sense of normality during these strange times.

That’s us! Hope you enjoyed your little list, and make sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more news.

P.S – Google’s 3D animals is also HOURS of fun. Not local to Edinburgh but still worth a mention!
